Lens Care & Handling

Lens wearer/end-user should be advised of the following warnings pertaining to contact lens wear:

  • Problems with contact lenses could result in serious injury to the eye. It is essential that patients follow their eyecare practitioner’s direction and all labeling instructions for proper use of lenses and lens care products, including the lens case. Eye problems, including corneal ulcers, can develop rapidly and lead to loss of vision.
  • Daily wear lenses are not intended for overnight wear and patients should be instructed not to wear lenses while sleeping. Clinical studies have shown that the risk of serious adverse reactions increased when these lenses are worn overnight.
  • If a lens wearer/end-user experiences eye discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes, or eye redness of the eye, the lens wearer/end-user should be instructed to immediately remove the lenses and promptly contact his or her eyecare practitioner.

Precautions:

  • Use only recommended MPS solutions with soft contact lenses. Never use saline or solutions recommended for conventional hard contact lenses only.
  • Always use fresh unexpired lens care solutions.
  • Do not use saliva or other liquid other than the recommended solutions for lubricating or wetting lenses.
  • Always keep the lenses completely immersed in the recommended storage solution when the lenses are not being worn (stored). Prolong periods of drying may damage the lenses.
  • Carefully follow the handling, insertion, removal, cleaning, disinfecting, storing, and wearing instructions prescribed by the eye care practitioner.
  • Avoid all harmful or irritating vapors and fumes while wearing lenses.
  • As with any contact lens, follow-up visits are necessary.

Adverse reactions:
If any unexplained eye discomfort, watering, vision change, or redness of the eye occurs, immediately consult your eye care practitioner to identify the cause and to begin the necessary treatment. Failure to follow the procedure recommended by your eye care practitioner may result in the development of eye infections.

Good lens care practices:

  • Always wash and dry your hands before handling your lenses.
  • Remove the lens and check that the lens is immersed in the fluid.
  • Do not use if the lens foil is broken or not sealed.
  • To avoid the risk of infection, contact lenses are not to be shared.
  • Clean and disinfect your lenses following strictly the instructions on your solution bottle or as directed by your eye care practitioner. This should limit the existence of potentially harmful bacteria and fungi.
